Following on from our night building gliders a few weeks ago, we spent the evening learning the basics of flying and aircraft types.
Parents Tony Bonnick and Andrew Rushton, both commercial pilots by day, created at very short notice (for which many thanks), a talk, slide show and quiz that had the troop enthralled for the whole evening.
Andrew Rushton takes us through aircraft types and history.
We learned the basic parts and control surfaces of aircraft, a variety of different aircraft types, the phonetic alphabet, the impact of weather in flying and lots more about life as a commercial pilot.
By the end of the evening the scouts had earned their basic aviation badge.
Many thanks to Andrew and Tony.
